A much-folded and faded letter was found among the personal papers of Professor Howard Rice after his death in 1936. The contents, more than a little puzzling and troubling, are presented here unedited for your review.
June, 17th, 1908.
My Dear Friend Howard,
I am writing to you, from my room at the Kempler Arms, a run-down inn located in the God-forsaken port of Rockfish Harbor, North Carolina. I have just drank the contents of a bottle of brandy in the vain attempt to calm my nerves enough that I may commit the events of the last few days to paper before I collapse into much needed slumber.
I came here, as you may recall, to study the l

Logic's Last Word: Naruto's Conclusion
I know that I'm pretty late to the party.
But Naruto is done.
At least the main manga is. Sure, Kishimoto will release several spin-off stories focusing on side characters and the next generation.
But the story of Naruto that began when many of us were young is now concluded for better or worst.
For the longest time, I considered writing a few last words about the series, but wondered if I actually wanted to. I'd felt as though I'd already said my piece on Naruto entirely and that there wasn't anything else to say. Even when the Final Arc kept throwing things at me to rant about, nothing stuck because I wasn't sure if it was worth it or a

Inverted heroes are not a move forward.
Taking a known hero of fiction and altering their gender and/or race is a stunt. A gimmick. They do it for the sake of “shock” advertising rather than out of any real desire to add variety to the predominantly white male pantheon.
There have been a few news articles to stoke my irritation over the last couple of months. First there was word that Thor of the Marvel universe was to become female, then there was a rumour James Bond was going to be recast with a black actor and now there are mumbles that the Spiderman who may/may not show up in the cinematic Marvel universe will be a black kid: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trendin

Avatar: The Legend Of Tao Book 1 Episode 1 1/3
Earth...
Avatar Kyoshi jumps and stomps the ground, sending a slab of earth into the air. With a swing of her right arm, she sends the earth flying forward. Avatar Kyoshi then turned to her right, lifted a second slab of earth as she raised her left arm, and proceeded to slam the earth forward with her right arm.
Fire...
Avatar Roku stands sideways, hands in the air. Spinning to the other side, Avatar Roku fires several shots of fire with quick flicks of his hands. He turns once again to his other side and sends a blast of fire with another quick flick.
Air...
Avatar Aang stood balancing on a single finger of his right arm, before swingi

I looked to the stars but I never could trace
What on earth had become of the rest of my race
I concluded that I was the last of my line
With the trunk of a man and the rest equestrine.
Two hearts beat within me, below and above
In a solitary thing with no other to love,
so I kept to myself in the wood's dappled shade
and I hunted alone with my bow and my blade.
One day there came a sound, the coarse voices of men
who had come to the wild, passing close to my den;
And a hostage they had- the fair child of a lord-
Whom they'd taken, forsooth, to demand some reward.
And it troubled me much when I hear
Unsurprisingly, after the murder of the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists last week: media hysteria is higher than normal, with news networks reporting on virtually nothing but counter terrorism plans.
Joke news network Fox was clearly so caught up in it all that they went into full reality meltdown, claiming that parts of Britain had become no-go areas for non-Muslims, and that “Muslim Religious Police” were patrolling parts of London, attacking anyone who did not conform to Islamic law.
Birmingham, they said, was a city populated purely by Muslims, and people not of that faith just didn’t go there…..which was news to me. I

OUIJI HILLS' Warly's World of Wonders ch.6 excerpt
“Come visit all, Warly's World.
Gum drops, Lollies and Chocolates sold.
Dreams made real, fortunes foretold.
Come visit all. If ye be — so — bold.”
A bodiless voice says, as it echoes throughout the streets of Lunar Lanes. In extravagant displays of lights, smoke, and confetti, Mr. Warly magically appears above the crowd spinning like a whirlwind through the air. He plummets towards the ground, landing gracefully on his feet before the crowd that has lined up to enter his emporium. They all cheer in awe, especially the younger children; but the clamoring quiets as he drops to one knee with his head lowered. Sudden
